Mr. Hogue is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma Jean {Sebright} Hogue; his children, Eva Kohr, her husband, Douglas, and their children, Hillary and Keith; Kenneth Hogue, Jr., his wife, Linda, and their children, Kendra and Travis; Judith Goodfellow, her husband, William, and their daughters Emily and Natalie; Dwight Hogue, his wife, Cynthia, and their daughters, Catherine and Olivia; Matthew Hogue, his wife, Shannon, and their son, Jason; Mark Hogue, his wife, Sharon, and their sons, Austin and Andrew; Jennifer Margush, her husband, Matthew, and their children, Kierstin, Samantha and Clayton; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ken was a graduate of North York High School, class of 1951. He was a long-time member of Pleasureville United Methodist Church. He was a farmer for the Sinking Springs Farms in York, employed by Allis Chalmers and retired from the Central York School District. His greatest joy was working as the head custodian at Central York High School, where he had a long lasting relationship with faculty, administrators, staff and students. After retirement he worked as a custodian at Mount Zion United Church of Christ for 15 years. He was a member of the Mount Wolf Fish and Game Association (horseshoe club) and York County Racing Club. He was an avid sprint car racing fan following his grandson, Austin (#52), to tracks throughout central Pennsylvania. He enjoyed spending time at the family island on the Susquehanna River whenever he could, and was a founding member of the annual Johnson/Hogue fishing trip that has been held annually for more than four decades. Ken was a person that was always interested in everyone that he met and enjoyed learning about them as individuals. Family and friends that went anywhere with him can attest that routine trips took considerably longer because Ken always encountered someone he knew or made a new friend at the store or gas station. We are all truly blessed in knowing Ken and witnessing his deep faith and commitment to family and friends.
His Masonic affiliations included White Rose Lodge #706, Free and Accepted Masons; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, York Forest #30; High Twelve Club; and the Harrisburg Consistory.
