    • Hanover - Earl H. Rohrbaugh, 99, entered God's eternal care, Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Center.
Born in Hanover, on October 16, 1918, he was the son of the late Luke W. and Naomi (Hassler) Rohrbaugh. Earl was the loving husband of the late Yvonne W. "Tillie" (Wiker) Rohrbaugh who died November 29, 2009.
Earl was a veteran, serving his country proudly as a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Hanover BPOE Lodge #763, and the Patmos Masonic Blue Lodge #348, Hanover.
Mr. Rohrbaugh was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Hanover. He retired with over thirty years of service as a realtor and the owner of Rohrbaugh Real Estate.
Earl was an avid sportsman and hunter, and enjoyed deer hunting in PA and NY.
Earl is survived by his children, R. Luke Rohrbaugh of Bluffton, SC, and James W. Rohrbaugh of New Windsor, MD; two grandchildren, Carson L. Rohrbaugh of Denver, CO, and Cooper J. Rohrbaugh of Nashville, TN; and two sisters, Jean Palmer and Madge Mitchell, both of Hanover. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Louise Rohrbaugh, at the Martha Lloyd School, Troy; and a sister, Gladys Brown.
Earl's life spanned just a few months shy of 100 years - during which time he witnessed many political, social and technological events. He was a product of the Depression Era - an influence which followed him to the end of his life. As a result of that, he was quick to offer "economic" lessons - especially to his sons and grandsons: 'save your pennies' and 'always live within your means'. He witnessed the transition of ground transportation from hand-cranked cars to now 'driverless' vehicles. He flew open cockpit planes in military training and saw air transportation evolve to high speed non-stop jet travel. Frequently he shared stories about WWll, and some of his experiences in Europe at that time. As noted - he was an avid hunter .... frequently hunting with his father and his buddy, Gus Stonesifer - a Hanover attorney. Years back he once shot a black bear in Tioga County while hunting with his cousin, Dave Hassler. Earl's grandsons probably have that story memorized. He will be missed!
Funeral Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Earl's name to the Martha Lloyd School, 66 Lloyd Lane, Troy, PA 16947.
The Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, has been entrusted by the family with the funeral arrangements. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.kenworthyfh.com
