- Dale E. 'Whitey' Crumling, 82, died at 4:30 a.m., Friday, September 19, 2003 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Romaine E. (Leland) Crumling. Mr. and Mrs. Crumling observed their 57th wedding anniversary on December 20, 2002. Born June 3, 1921 in Hallam, he was a son of the late Horace L. and Sarah (Leber) Crumling. He retired in 1983 as foreman of Truck Maintenance for Met-Ed. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was a member of Friendship Fire Company of Hellam. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Joyce E. Dusman; a grandson, Brandon Schnetzka; two granddaughters, Olivia and Elizabeth Schnetzka; a brother, William L. Crumling; and a sister, Bernice Picking, all of York. Mr. Crumling was preceded in death by a brother, Horace L. Crumling, Jr. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St., York. Officiating will be the Rev. John B. Pinder, III, pastor of Trinity UCC of Hallam. Burial will be in Kreutz Creek Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, Inc., 103 E. Market Street, York, PA 17401; or to The American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403; or to the American Heart Association, 2997 Cape Horn Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356.
