    • William J. Lutz, 90, passed away May 25, 2015 at Gilchrist Hospice, Towson, Md. He was the husband of the late Lucy E. (Beckley) Lutz.
      There will be a viewing from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 31 with a Masonic Service by Charity Lodge #134 scheduled for 4 p.m. and on Monday, June 1 from 10 to 11 a.m. at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, 24 N. Second St., New Freedom.
      The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mortuary with the Rev. Henry Thompson officiating. Following cremation, a Commital Service with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard is scheduled for Thursday, June 4, 11 a.m., at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York.
      Bill was born May 12, 1925 in Hopewll Township to the late William J. Lutz, Sr. and the late Martha G. (Collins) Lutz.
      Bill was a decorated WW II veteran serving the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne, fighting in four major battles, including Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, Northern France and Rhineland. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts, four Bronze Stars, the American Campaign Medal and European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. Bill was also one of the recipeints of the Presidential Citation presented by General Eisenhower to members of the 101st Airborne 501 Parachute Infantry. Bill was a long haul trucker for over 60 years, traveling through the United States. He was a member of Charity Lodge, #134, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Stewart American Legion Post #455 and Bel Air Moose Lodge #1952.
      Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Clark of Red Lion and her late husband, Larry, Gloria Openshaw and her husband, Marvin of Monkton, Md., Donna Almony and her husband, Ed of New Freedom and Wilma Thompson and her husband, Jon of Parkton, Md.; 11 grandchildren, Howard Thompson, Ernie Openshaw, Pam Myers, Kelly Beal, Joe Clark, Wil Lutz, Jon Thompson, Mike Lutz, Jimmy Gillispie, Scott Openshaw and Brad Lutz; and twelve great-grandchildren.
      He was predeceased by a son, Richard Lutz, and two brothers, Harold E. Lutz and Robert M. Lutz.
