    • AIRVILLE Pearl M. (Maust) Tompkins, 93, entered into rest at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, November 26, 2009, at The Haven of Springwood after a brief illness. She was the wife of Harry C. Tompkins, who entered into rest on June 5, 1990. She was born in Philadelphia, on June 30, 1916. Mrs. Tompkins worked in housekeeping for the operating and recovery rooms at York Hospital since 1963, and retired after 26 years of loyal service. She was a lifelong and the oldest member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church, a Sunday School teacher, and a member of the women's association. Pearl was very active in the women's auxiliary of Brogue Ambulance, was a Girl Scout leader, a member of Early American Steam Engine and Old Equipment Society, and a member of the York Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by two sons, H. Clayton Tompkins of Red Lion and wife, Christine, and James E. Tompkins of York; one daughter, Doris Stabley of Stewartstown; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a son, Harold Schnetzka; a daughter, Lura Chambers; a grandson; and a granddaughter. Viewing will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, 8426 Church Road, Felton. The service will follow at 10 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. David HaynesWeller, officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell Union Presbyterian Cemetery. Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, is handling the arrangements. Contributions may be offered to Brogue Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 144, Brogue, PA 17309. Pearl was a great mother who loved gardening, hunting, and was very active. But most of all she loved her family and the times she spent with them. She always put her family first.
